about
You know that feeling when you get your mouth all set for a certain dish, and when you go to prepare it you discover you are missing some key ingredient, or some crucial component has gone bad. This song is based on a true story involving a pasty, a Cornish meat pie that became a Butte, Montana delicacy thanks to its popularity among the miners who worked the tunnels more than a mile underground. Lead guitar shared with Chip Whitson.
My gravy gone moldy in the coolerator overnight
I had a pasty in the oven and the crust was looking just right
I started to think maybe all was lost
But then I found a can of enchilada sauce
My gravy gone moldy in the coolerator overnight
I proceeded to introduce Butte to Mexico
Heated up the green sauce and brother, I let it flow
I grabbed a fork and I dug right in
Till the enchilada sauce ran down my chin
My gravy gone moldy in the coolerator overnight
Solo
You know I’m getting to the age where I got to consider my diet
I can’t just look at something funky and say, hey, I’ll try it
Like meat and potatoes and spicy green sauce
It wouldn’t be long ‘fore I’d be paying the cost
My gravy got moldy in the coolerator overnight
You ever seen a model volcano at a science fair?
My GI tract coulda won a blue ribbon down there
I felt Mt St Helens rumblin’ in my belly
My butt clenched up and my guts turned to jelly
My gravy got moldy in the coolerator overnight
My gravy got moldy in the coolerator overnight
